　　阅读下面的短文，然后按照要求写一篇150词左右的英语短文。

　　Hi, I am Mike. I just went through my first year of college. The toughest part on me at first was the general adjustment.1 went to a very small high school where my mom was a teacher and she did practically everything for me. But at the college I needed to know some basic life skills, such as balancing a check—book, laundry, and the things you have to be able to handle that I never thought of in the high school! It was really tough for me at first and I got badly homesick.

　　Once that first semester was over and I got used to the college life, I loved it—good facilities, helpful instructors and a good library. The Students’ Union organizes various parties every week. I also go to cinemas and concerts, and often spend Saturday nights in pubs and clubs.

　　One thing I think is important is to get yourself active in things. I was on the dance team in college and met a ton of people that way…it was so much easier to make friends when you had a common ground.

　　Shooting, originated as a means of survival, developed into a sport only in the late 19th century. The sport first appeared in 1896, but none were contested during the 1904 and 1928 Games. The sport returned to the Olympics in 1932. Women were first allowed to compete in the Olympic shooting in 1968. The sport has grown steadily from just three shooting events at the 1896 Olympic Games to 17 today.

　　It was not until at the end of 19th century that shooting, originated as a means of survival, earned its status as a sport. Shooting became an Olympic event officially in 1896. Yet, twice in history (1904, 1928) shooting was suspended at the Olympics. It returned to the Games in 1932, and women were first allowed to participate in the competition in 1968. The sport has been growing steadily from 1896's three events to today's seventeen.

　　要想写好书面表达，词汇是基础的基础。如果一个考生不具备一定的词汇量，写作简直无从谈起。写作对词汇的要求至少包括以下两个方法：一是会写，即能准确写对其词形，不能多字母，不能少字母，也不能错字母，如不能将 friend 错写成 friend，不能将 before 错写成 befor，不能将 though 错写成 through 或 thought，等等；二是会用，即要能弄清所写词汇的基本使用特点(如名词的可数性，动词是否及物，形容词与介词如何搭配等等)，比如 marry 一词，若仅仅知道它表示“结婚”是不够的，否则便会写出 marry with sb 这样的错误结构来，对此同学们还应知道它可表示“与……结婚”，即 marry with sb 中的介词 with 是多余的，应去掉。类似地，serve for sb(为某人服务)中的介词 for 也是多余的，应去掉；discuss about sth(讨论某事)中的介词 about 也是多余，应去掉。

　　基础二　语法基础

　　一般说来，语法包括词法和句法两部分。词法不仅仅是个词汇问题，它还包括词的构成规则与变化规则等；句法则指指组词成句的方法与规则。同学们要想写好书面表达，打好语法基础也是很重要的，不仅要弄清词的变化规则(名词复数的构成、动词过去式及过分词的构成、形容词比较等级的构成等)，而且更重要地要弄清如何遣词造句，如何使句子通顺，如何使段落连贯，以及如何使句子变得“高级”，等等。

　　基础三　惯用法基础

　　同学们要想写作获得高分，写的句子就应该要地道、符合英语习惯。比如汉语常说“我的工作忙”、“他的年纪轻”等，若将其直译成My work is busy, His age is young 则不合英语习惯，地道的表达是 I’m busy (with my work), He is young。又如，汉语可说“许多学生很难理解这种诗”，英语就不能直说成 Many students are difficult to understand such poems，因为按照英语习惯，be difficult (easy)后接不定式时，其主语习惯上不能是“人”，而应是it，如说 It is difficult for many students to understand such poems。但是，如果句子主语与其后的不定式有动宾关系，则可使用此类结构，如说 He is difficult to work with. 与他共事很难。所有这些惯用法问题，同学们应在平时的学习中注意积累。

　　基础四　写作基础

　　具备一定的词汇基础、语法基础、惯用法基础等，这些都是为写好文章的前提，但要想写好文章，还需要一定的写作方法和技巧。比如通顺与连贯一直是高考英语书面表达中非常强调的一点，许多同学们不知道如何才能使文章连贯和通顺，其实有一个最简单的办法就是学会使用一些常用的连词或连接性副词，其中最基本的如 and, but, or, so, therefore, besides, however 等，事实上，对于一篇百把字的短文，只要能妥善地使用以上几个小词，文章一定会增色不少了，当然要想使文章锦上添花，基础较好的学生还得学会使用其他一些表示过渡与衔接的表达，如：

　　表示顺序的 first, then, finally 等；

　　表示时间的 in the past, now, at present, in the future 等；

　　表示转折的 but, however; on the contrary, in the mean while, at the same time, instead, unfortunately, after all 等；

　　表示递进的 What's more, besides, even, moreover, furthermore 等；

　　表示并列的 as well as, both…and, neither…nor, either…or, some… some… 等；
